UniversiTees, a new shop selling Ohio University apparel, opened Uptown Monday at 30 N. Court St., the former site of Zachary's.
While several stores Uptown, mostly bookstores, sell OU clothing and accessories, none have made apparel their focus, said UniversiTees manager Lee Barber.
Barber, a 2003 OU graduate with a bachelor's degree in sports industry management, said he thinks there is enough of a market for OU goods that his store will not hurt other businesses that sell similar items. The store also has a small selection of Ohio State University items.
Although the shop has been open since Monday, it will host a grand opening event on Saturday, Sept. 11.
Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
UniversiTees is a regional chain with four other shops at Ohio State, Indiana State University, Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. The company is a division of Taylor Sportswear.
