Freshman settles in as starter

Kalvin McRae was probably not a familiar face to most Ohio football fans back in the spring. However, that has changed only one game into the season.

The freshman running back made his presence felt last Saturday during Ohio's 42-14 victory against Virginia Military Institute. McRae started at halfback, completing a journey that saw him playing safety on defense, to being the featured back in a span of five months.

McRae found the end zone for Ohio on Saturday, but, instead of scoring touchdowns for the Bobcats, McRae possibly could have found himself preparing to play against the Bobcats tomorrow.

Pittsburgh was the first team to offer McRae a scholarship. But when McRae wasn't scoring high enough on his SATs, he stopped hearing from them.

McRae said there are no hard feelings toward Pittsburgh.

I don't hold a grudge against anybody over there or anybody on the coaching staff

he said. But I will remember how that process went and what all happened.
