Stewart out of touch with OU students

I am writing in response to the article, In debate over debates

Stewart Lang differ on details that appeared in last Friday's edition of The Post. I find it more than a surprise to believe that Jimmy Stewart thinks that he does not have to respond to the difficult issues that face this area.

Jimmy Stewart is quoted as saying, Who does he (Pat Lang) think he is that I should respond to him? Well, I have some statements that I believe Stewart must respond to in order to win my vote.

Why are college tuition costs skyrocketing into record numbers and making it hard for my generation to get an education and get ahead? Why have thousands of jobs left Ohio, especially in this area, where the economy is in worse condition than ever imagined?

Maybe Stewart should get out and talk to some OU students and give them his answers to these questions. I know that Pat Lang went to OU and grew up in the area too -so he understands why we need answers to these questions. I don't know if Stewart understands this very clear point.

I believe I can speak for the rest of our community when I say that Jimmy Stewart should start acting like our representative and not like one of the Republican Party. I would like to see what he has to say to me, to you, and to our community. Maybe then some real work will be done to improve our slice of Appalachian Ohio.
