At yesterday's Athens County Commissioners meeting, the commissioners gave authorization to the Athens Community Action Committee to begin a flood disaster relief program, which will temporarily employ Athens residents in need of work.
The temporary employees will be given jobs, such as unclogging local creeks to help prevent future flooding in the county, Commissioner Mark Sullivan said.
A lot of good things can be done with this project
