After a five-game road trip that saw the Ohio volleyball team win every game of every match, the Bobcats return home this weekend for the first time in nearly a month.
They will try to improve on a 15-2 overall record and a perfect 7-0 conference record against Buffalo and Kent State. The Bobcats enter the weekend's slate after dominating Bowling Green Sunday. In the second game of that match, Ohio hit .731 with 20 kills and only one error in 26 attempts, a season-high.
I think the offense has really stepped up
setter Briana Adamovsky said. Our outside hitters have done a good job of putting the ball away.
The current MAC East Division leaders open the weekend against Buffalo, who has yet to win a conference match in eight tries this season, bringing a 7-14 overall mark into Athens. The Bobcats began their road trip with a three-game win against Buffalo Oct. 2.
Ohio will finish its brief home stand against Kent State. Even though the Bobcats defeated the Golden Flashes in three games earlier this season, libero Michaele Blackburn said the teams know each other better.
I think we know their style of play she said. But they're going to be ready for us.
Coach Geoff Carlston said Buffalo's strength is its blocking, and he described Kent State as a well-coached, athletic team. For the Golden Flashes, outside hitter Danielle Holt is fourth in the MAC in kills per game.
Carlston said he has been pleased with how his team has progressed throughout the season. He said outside hitters Ashley Elliott and Julia Winkfield -who is second in the MAC in hitting percentage -have worked hard and opened up opportunities for other players on the team.
We're getting better every week and we're trying to add a few things and tweak a few things he said.
In anticipation of this weekend's games, Carlston is attempting to bring fans to The Convo on Saturday and trying to break the attendance record for volleyball at Ohio. He dubbed the night, Break the Record/ 1
000 Fan Night. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
