Your headline story (Secretary of State criticized for restricting voters) on Wednesday, Oct. 6, makes imperative that every voter have in hand his/her voter registration card on November 2nd. Don't leave home without it!
If you registered but don't have one, here are two alternatives: 1) try to get an absentee ballot; you even can do it online http://electionimpacvotenet .com/yourvotematters/, or 2) if you registered here but haven't received your card, go to the Board of Elections at 15 S. Court St. and pick it up.
The card will tell you your precinct, but not the location of the voting booth. Ask for the address. If getting there is a problem, call the political party of your choice. I guarantee someone will come to your door and carry you on his shoulders if need be.
A friend of mine called the Board of Elections last week, claiming to be an OU student residing on campus. He asked where he should go to vote. The spokesperson said, Baker Center. If you're hassled there, be sure you produce your voter registration card. Don't take no for an answer!
