The women's golf team finished ninth of 15 teams yesterday at the Nittany Lion Fall Invitational in State College, Pa. The Bobcats had a final team score of 955 (310-320-325) for three rounds.
The tournament was postponed after weather delays during the second round Saturday. Teams finished round two yesterday before starting the third round.
Sara Ann Palmer led the Bobcats in scoring, tied for 34th at 238. Julie Tomlinson, who was in 17th after the first round, dropped to 41st with a final score of 240. Shanna Siefke was one stroke behind Tomlinson and tied for 42nd, followed by Ana Brown in 44th. Brown was one stroke behind Siefke at 242. Meredith Waterston tied for 53rd and finished at 246.
California-Irvine swept the tournament, scoring 897, the second-best three-round score in the tournament's history. UC-Irvine's Selanee Henderson won the individual medal with a score of 220 (75-72-73).
College of Charleston took second place with a team 902, and Princeton was third with 915.
Host Penn State produced a school-record 289 for first after one round, but fell to fourth yesterday. Rollins College, Yale, Maryland and Xavier finished fifth through eighth, respectively.
The Bobcats will travel to Huntington, W.Va., for the Lady Herd Fall Classic Oct. 18-19. The men's team plays at the Georgetown Invitational Oct. 24-25.
