Local crime spurred by election outcome

Four people have been arrested in incidents relating to the recent elections -two for assault, one for indecent exposure and one for disorderly conduct by intoxication.

In a press release, the Athens Police Department said all the arrests -which occurred the night of Nov. 3 and the morning of Nov. 4 -had political implications.

The guy was on his balcony of his apartment

and I guess him and his buddies were throwing eggs said Thress, who was struck with an egg. It's stupid. It's just politics. You don't have to like flip out and break the law.

Greggory Wells was arrested in the incident and has pleaded guilty to three counts of assault. He was charged a $300 fine.

Twenty minutes after the egg incident, a man pulled up to the crowd in a van, jumped out and exposed himself. William Price was arrested for indecent exposure in the incident.

I saw him drop his pants. He was like

way further up

Thress said.

In the early morning hours of Nov. 4, two more incidents apparently related to the political disputes occurred.

According to APD reports, a female was arrested for hitting and kicking supporters of President Bush in front of O'Betty's Red Hot, 15 W. State St. Fiona Mitchell was arrested in the incident and has pleaded innocent to one count of assault.

Around the same time, officers on the scene arrested another man who was threatening and instigating a fight with another male outside of O'Betty's Red Hot, according to an APD police report.
