There comes a time in every athlete's career when they decide if their sport is something that they want to pursue the rest of their lives. For Ohio wrestling coach Joel Greenlee, that moment came in 1986.
A sophomore at Northern Iowa, his first year at the heavyweight level, Greenlee was like many other wrestlers -content with being a good college competitor but never really thinking of possibilities beyond the realm of the NCAA. That is until that season's Virginia Duals.
I wasn't ranked at the time and had been doing OK
Greenlee said. But at the Virginia Duals I wrestled guys ranked third fifth seventh and ninth in the country and beat all of them.
