It didn't take long for Frank Solich to get back into the swing of things.
One month after accepting the head coaching job at Ohio, Solich will serve as an assistant coach in the 2005 Hula Bowl Maui All-Star Classic on Jan. 22. Solich will join Georgia's Mark Richt and fellow Mid-American Conference coach Joe Novak from Northern Illinois.
Generally regarded as the All-Star game for seniors, the Hula Bowl will be played out for the 59th time this year and broadcast on ESPN. And the press Ohio could receive from Solich's appearance is nothing short of priceless, President Roderick McDavis said.
Again
when he's there I guarantee the camera's going to turn to him and they're going to say
'Frank Solich is now coaching Ohio University
' McDavis said. You can't buy that kind of publicity. I love it.
Solich will help lead the Aina squad against Oregon's Mike Bellotti and Rice's Ken Hatfield, who will direct the Kai squad. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium.
