The Mid-American Conference honored three players for men's basketball Players of the Week, all from teams currently at the top of the conference.
Kent State center ¥Kevin Warzynski led his team to wins against Eastern Michigan and Miami this week, which, with a 3-1 MAC record, puts the Golden Flashes at the top of the East Division.
Bowling Green forward ¥John Reimold averaged 21.5 points in two wins this week, helping his team beat Marshall and Northern Illinois and a 3-0 start in the MAC West.
¥Ben Reed, a guard from Western Michigan, scored 36 points in a game against Akron, the most any MAC player has scored in a single game this year.
MAC team in line for March Madness
Kent State is ranked No. 14 in the NCAA's Ratings Percentage Index, which ranks basketball teams based on their won-loss record, strength of schedule and number of games played.
RPI rankings show Kent State as having the 13th-toughest schedule in the nation.
The Golden Flashes are 3-1 in the MAC and 10-4 overall; they play Western Michigan tonight and will take on the Bobcats in The Convo on Saturday.
Kent State advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight during the 2001-02 season.
