In their first home game since Sept. 4, the No. 11 Bobcats dominated the Central Michigan Chippewas with a vicious offensive attack for a 4-0 victory Friday.
Ohio (10-3, 4-0 Mid-American Conference) controlled the ball for most of the match, never relenting and keeping the Central Michigan defense on its heels. The Bobcats outshot the Chippewas 17-5 and notched eight penalty corners to just two for Central Michigan (2-8, 1-2 MAC).
Rachelle Coetzee led Ohio with two goals, giving her eight on the season. The first came in the 25th minute off a penalty corner. Nikki Gnozzio started the attack and passed to Lauren Stahlhuth, who tapped the ball to Coetzee. She slammed the ball to the back of the cage for the only goal Ohio would need.
Torrie Albini picked up an unassisted goal just before halftime, pushing her team-leading season total to 10. Coeztee and her twin sister, Estienne, scored in the second half as the Bobcats ran away with the game.
The Ohio defense secured its fifth shutout of the season, with goalkeepers Jessie Martin and Katherine Claeys saving one shot apiece.
The Bobcats resume play Sunday at Kent State.
