Swimming & Diving: 'Cats host Marshall, look to keep up streak

The Ohio swimming and diving team goes into today's dual meet with Marshall on a serious hot streak.

The Bobcats (8-1, 4-1 Mid-American Conference) look to extend their winning streak to four straight ' all at home ' while also making it five straight victories against non-conference opponents.

Ohio comes off of a 161-139 victory over the two-time defending MAC champion Eastern Michigan Eagles. The victory marked the third in two weeks at the Aquatic Center, where the Bobcats have a perfect 5-0 record this year.

This is our facility

we're used to it coach Greg Werner said, so there's certainly an advantage.

The Bobcats will be rekindling a rivalry with Marshall (4-6), which formerly swam in the MAC.

They used to be in our conference so we used to swim against them all the time

senior captain Emily Wylam said. They have definitely gotten better since they switched-

Werner said. We're going to have to be pretty good.

One oddity about today's meet is that it's on a Tuesday. The Bobcats are used to a schedule that typically includes weekend meets and weekday practices. Tuesday marks the first weekday meet of the year for Ohio.

(Today) is going to be kind of odd

Wylam said. We usually have a hard practice Tuesday night. It'll be a change of pace to get it in our heads that we do have a meet (tonight).

But the strange timing of the meet will be a factor for both teams, so the bigger concern is just winning.

It'll be an interesting meet to see how it goes

Wylam said.
