Singer Matt Wertz will bring his acoustic pop sound to Athens tomorrow night in a free concert.
Though the Baker University Center show will be Wertz's first in Athens, he has previously toured with Jamie Cullum, Matt Nathanson, Mat Kearney, Jon McLaughlin and Jars of Clay. He has also performed with Gavin DeGraw and Jason Mraz, tour manager Jason Hecht wrote in an e-mail.
Wertz has three full-length albums and a five-song EP. His most recent album, Everything in Between, was released in September 2006. Wertz is working on a new album, but has no release details yet, Hecht wrote.
Baker Center has been trying to explore new music, and Wertz has performed at other college campuses, said Kim Henderson, senior visual communications major and the event assistant for Baker Center programming. Students unfamiliar with Wertz's music might at least know his name, she said. -
