1. There Will Be Blood
This is a great guy movie about real men getting dirty and destroying the environment while drinking and swearing. Guys, if you don't have a date for Valentine's Day, watch this movie. It will make you hate humanity and yearn for a drink.
2. Glengarry Glen Ross
This movie is filled with people you love to hate. Every character is manipulative, mean and would cheat his mother for any amount of money, but you can't tear your eyes away from this movie because the dialogue is so sharp.
3. American Psycho
Movies don't get much more nihilistic than this. An 80s yuppie starts butchering people. It's a great movie on a few levels. Christian Bale plays a world-class sociopath, and the monologues about pop music are hysterical.
4. A Clockwork Orange
Here's another movie about having fun with life. From the very first shot, you know this isn't a movie for the ladies. Alex's grin is something I think defines cathartic violence.
5. Heat
Every man should own Heat. It stars De Niro and Pacino for crying out loud. Plus it had Henry Rollins. That is a trifecta of cool that has not been beat recently. The movie has car chases and amazing shoot outs, what more could you ask for on Valentine's Day?
