Track: Bobcats bounce back at All-Ohio

At one of the indoor track season's biggest events, the Ohio track and field team got the wheels back on the wagon.

Disappointed by a fourth-place finish at the Bowling Green Quad Meet last weekend, coach Clay Calkins' team rebounded to a sixth-place team finish at the All-Ohio Championships held Friday and Saturday at Findlay, placing it in the middle of a 12-team field.

We would've liked to finish a little higher than we did

Calkins said. The (Mid-American Conference) Championships are coming up and we're finishing better every week. This week was no exception.

MAC rival Miami finished first with a team score of 161.50.

Kari Summers finished third in the women's mile, with two other Bobcats (Carime Reinhart, Jenielle Hunt) in the top 10. Summers and Reinhart finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run.

Bahiyjaui Allen continued throwing well in the shot put, earning second place with her 14.61-meter mark. Also in the top 10 for Ohio was Emily Amendola, taking seventh with a throw of 13.73 meters.

Both of them being in the finals was a good showcase for them Calkins said. They've been great all year

and (shot put) is something we'll key on going into the conference championships.

Three Bobcats earned top-10 finishes in the high jump, with Cathy Udeani, Ashlee Reynolds and MaLeah Thornton taking fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. The high jump was the only event that saw three Bobcats earn team points based on finish.

Ohio travels to Akron for the second time this season next weekend in the second leg of the Akron Open. The MAC Championships follow in two weeks in Yspilanti, Michigan.
