Post Letter: Homecoming ticket prices cost OU an alumnus' support

I am desperately trying to figure out why Ohio University changes the prices of football tickets throughout the season. Basketball, baseball, softball, etc. might do it too, but today I am discussing football. Why is it that one day we can get a ticket for five or 10 or 15 dollars, but when it's Homecoming it suddenly becomes $30. Why is that? Oh, yes ... it's because parents and alumni rushing back to their alma mater wanting to spend time with their kids and relive a little bit of yesteryear don't care what it costs to do that kind of thing. Honestly, 30 dollars?

When was the last game OU played that was worth that kind of money? Oh, I remember ... I think it was the GMAC Bowl, their first bowl game since 1968, or maybe it was some other kind of bowl game the NCAA had to come up with to line its pockets just a bit more. I think I might have paid that much for a ticket when we played Ohio State University. And that is because we played OSU in Columbus, not at Miami (hint: I didn't pay full price for that ticket). I, for one, am seriously thinking about not going to the game in a kind of pseudo-protest and spending more time with my family and friends. After all, is this game really going to change anything amongst the NCAA top dogs? Please OU football, make me eat my words!
