Although members of Ohio University’s Student Senate have admitted they called for the wrong type of vote regarding a Senate Bill 5 resolution last week, senate members are ready to move on with new business.
At tonight’s meeting, senate will discuss a resolution regarding senate’s campaign and election periods. Senate member Zach George, the primary sponsor for the resolution, is looking to change the length of the campaign period to 30 days and allowing only one day of voting instead of two, Senate President Kyle Triplett said.
Also on the agenda are three presentations. The first is from a USA Today representative who will discuss the paper’s Collegiate Readership Program with senate. According to usatodayeducate.com, the program is designed to provide students with “global awareness on campus through daily exposure to news.”
The second presentation will be tips for Halloween weekend from Patrick McGee, the managing attorney of the Center for Student Legal Services, Triplett said.
Tony Koehling, the creator of senate’s Lifelines for Safety social media campaign and a member of senate’s public relations team, will also provide an update on the program since its launch Monday.
Senate will meet at 7:15 p.m. tonight in 235 Walter Hall.
