Although Halloween may be over, the spirit of the holiday will return to Athens tonight when the award-winning musical production Young Frankenstein comes to Templeton-Blackburn Memorial Auditorium.
The Mel Brooks production won the 2008 Outer Critics Circle Award and Broadway.com Audience Award for Best Musical and is projected to attract a large audience this evening.
The show sold about 1,300 tickets by the middle of last week, said Andrew Holzaepfel, associate director of the Campus Involvement Center and booking agent for the Performing Arts Series.
Holzaepfel added that he predicts 1,400 to 1,800 tickets to be sold total.
Young Frankenstein will take place tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $22 for students, $27 for seniors and $30 general admission.
“We’re excited,” Holzaepfel said. “When we surveyed all our students and performing arts subscribers, it was something that ranked pretty high on the survey.”
