Athens County Commissioner Mark Sullivan

Special prosecutor requests a revoking of Sullivan's probation

The special prosecutor for Athens County Commissioner Mark Sullivan's case is calling for his probation to be revoked.

Meigs County Prosecutor Colleen Williams filed a motion Wednesday to revoke Sullivan's probation stemming from an incident with his wife in March.

Williams is serving as special prosecutor on the case because of a conflict of interest with the Athens County Prosecutor's Office.

On Jan. 10, Sullivan was arrested by Nelsonville Police after his niece, Samantha Sullivan, called to report that he head-butted her in the lip.

Sullivan was charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. If charged, he could serve up to 180 days in jail and be fined up to $1,000.

His January arrest fell within the time constraints of his two-year probation stemming from an incident with his wife in March.

Mark was charged with domestic violence following the altercation with his wife, Tammie Sullivan, in his Millfield home. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of persistent disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, according to court documents.

A hearing for the current domestic violence charge is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 24.
