In response to an annual campus-wide survey, Ohio University students asked the Concert Series for the chance to create more laughs, and the series has done just that.
Confirmed March 28, this year’s Comedy Central on Campus Tour featuring Nick Kroll and Joe Mande will be visiting OU’s Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
“It’s actually a response to the student survey asking for more comedy,” Andrew Holzaepfel, the associate director of the Campus Involvement Center. “Coming off the success of past shows, it’s obvious that the students do indeed want more comedy.”
Nick Kroll has starred on the FX series The League and has had roles on The Life and Times of Tim on HBO, Adult Swim’s Children’s Hospital and NBC’s Parks and Recreation. More recently, he released his hour-long DVD comedy special, Thank You Very Cool and is in the process of creating his own Comedy Central series, The Nick Show Kroll.
In addition, Kroll has had supporting roles in films including I Love You Man, Date Night and Get Him to the Greek.
“We ’re just really excited,” Holzaepfel said. “Nick Kroll is getting ready to have his own series on Comedy Central. We got him at a great time before he became even more popular.”
Booking the event cost somewhere between $15,000 and $20,000, Holzaepfel said.
Though Holzaepfel is hoping for a positive reaction, he is planning on the main floor being sold out and will have temporarily closed off balcony seating.
“We’re hoping for a good turn out,” Holzaepfel said. “Tickets prices are low so we hope that will help students buy.”
Tickets for the event are on sale online for $25 for the first 10 rows and $15 for remaining seats. Tickets will be sold publically beginning April 2 at noon.
