I just want to write a letter to the editor today to voice my support for Abe Alassaf for county treasurer. Abe, though young, I feel would be — like he has been saying — the “honest” choice. His opponent Bill Bias is a career politician who has used his other elected positions to benefit his private-sector employment. Now he wants to be in charge of the county’s money! That is cause for alarm to me, and I feel that anybody who has paid attention to local politics during the past five or six years would feel the same.
Abe wants to create a county treasurer website as well. That website would make paying taxes easier for taxpayers. So in closing, I would just say vote for Abe because: 1. He is the honest choice; 2. He will be a fresh breath into the stagnate, good-old-boys system of Athens County politics; and 3. He will bring the treasurer’s office into the 21st century with a website and the capabilities of being able to collect taxes online. I hope everybody votes for Abe as well.
