While I don’t necessarily agree that the university should have been closed at noon due to a robbery that occurred at 9:20 a.m., I’m pretty appalled that it became so popular to make light of gun violence by referring to Wednesday as #GundayFunday.
I’m also pretty shocked that there has been so much focus on the fact that the man with a gun “only stole $5.” Even if nothing was taken, a member of our community was still threatened by being held at gunpoint.
Shouldn’t this be a cause for concern rather than celebration? All in all, I’m pretty embarrassed to be a part of a student body that turns a potentially dangerous situation into a party. But I guess I’m not surprised, since usually they’re busy turning parties into dangerous situations.
