From the editor: Welcome back, let's chat paninis

Welcome back to Athens.

We hope everyone’s journey back was safe and included no more than three rushed trips back to Wal-Mart for a forgotten shower curtain, printer ink or panini press.

It’s been a hell of a summer. One complete with gorgeous weather, trips both near and far, hovering parents and temporary employment—and it all went far too quickly.

Now, once again, is the time for studying the principles of macroeconomics, dining hall binges and Uptown debauchery. The staples of Athens.

During the summer, however, Athens and Ohio University remained busy despite the temporary calm that settles while the tens of thousands of students are away. This special edition of The Post is here to catch you up on anything you might have missed.

A quick recap: construction projects abound, local musicians pumped up the jam, Bobcat football has prepared for a tough but promising season and there’s a new beer store on Court Street.

Be sure to check out all of the details and much more inside.

For those unaware, classes begin Aug. 26, which means The Post can again be found in newsstands throughout campus and in Athens.

We are, of course, also online and across social media. You can follow and like and favorite us to ensure you stay up to date while on the go.

We will soon be launching a new website that will overhaul how you can access our content every day. We have been working hard to ensure every aspect of the new website will make your experience that much better. All we ask is that you bear with us while we iron out the kinks.

In the meantime, you can rely on us to continue to have the day’s news—from crime to culture, touchdowns to tuition changes.

Though we can’t tell you what questions your econ professor might put on you exam, we will always keep you informed and entertained in both our print and Web pages.

So every day after you take a shower and print out your homework, you can always sit down—fresh panini in hand—and read The Post.
