Live Bowl Notebook: Ohio vs. East Carolina

 

PREGAME

The Bobcats will look to begin the holiday festivities with a bang Monday in the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl against East Carolina at Tropicana Field.

 A win against the Pirates would give Ohio three consecutive bowl wins. The Pirates boast the10th best passing offense in the country.  East Carolina junior quarterback Shane Carden has the sixth most passing yards in the NCAA. After losing three games in a row, the Bobcats defeated UMass 51-23 to end the regular season on a positive note.

 

FIRST QUARTER

Ohio redshirt senior quarterback Tyler Tettleton's pass intercepted by East Carolina's senior defensive back Michael Dobson. ECU now has 16 interceptions on the season. The Pirates take over on Ohio's 45-yard line with 12:36 remaining in the first quarter.

*Carden's pass complete to redshirt junior wide receiver Cam Worthy for a touchdown. ECU now leads 7-0 with 10:45 remaining in the first quarter.

*ECU again strings together a quality drive as junior running back Breon Allen runs for a two-yard touchdown. The Pirates now lead 14-0 with 27 seconds left

remaining in the first quarter.

At the end of the first quarter East Carolina leads the Bobcats 14-0.

 

SECOND QUARTER

* Bobcats sophomore runnng back Daz Patterson with a 17 yard touchdown as ECU now leads 14-7 with 14:39 remaining in the second quarter.

*Ohio redshirt sophomore quarterback Derrius Vick connects with redshirt senior wide receiver Donte Foster for an 80-yard touchdown. Ohio and ECU are tied at 14 with 9:54 left in the second quarter.

Ohio with a big stand on fourth down. ECU was threatening in Bobcats territory, but Ohio turns them away as score remains tied at 14 with 5:48 remaining in the first half.

*ECU junior kicker Warren Harvey converts a 41-yard field goal to give the Pirates the lead at 17-14 with 1:01 left in the first half.

At the end of the first half: East Carolina leads Ohio 17-14.

 

THIRD QUARTER

* Ohio redshirt sophomore kicker Josiah Yazdani converts on a 29-yard field goal to even the score at 17 with 6:42 left in the third quarter.

*ECU's Harvey misses a 30-yard field goal. Score reamins tied at 17 as Ohio takes over posession.

FOURTH QUARTER

* Ohio takes its first lead of the game after Yazdani converts a 28-yard field goal. The Bobcats now lead 20-17 with 13:34 remaining in the contest.

*East Carolina retakes the lead 24-20 after the Pirates senior running back Vintavious Cooper runs for a 31-yard touchdown.

*ECU's Worthy throws a touchdown to quarterback Carden. The Pirates extend lead to 31-20 with less than eight minutes remaining in the game.

*The Pirates Cooper rushes for a 22-yard touchdown as they now lead 37-20 with 1:55 left in the game.
