While I am extremely proud of the Ohio Swimming & Diving teams’ accomplishments during my 18+ year tenure, I cannot take credit for the league titles of my predecessor Scott Hammond, his staff and the incredibly talented teams of the late 1980s and 1990s. Those teams and staffs should be credited with seven of the 11 MAC Championships garnered by Ohio Swimming & Diving.
The 2000, 2001, 2008 and 2011 trophies were hoisted during my watch. However, it gives me great pleasure to communicate that during my stay, 46 individual Academic All-America honors and the 50 team Academic All-America honors were earned by the swimming & diving ’Cats.
To all of those directly and indirectly affected, please accept my apology for not setting the record straight earlier. I wish the Bobcats the best of luck in the future.
Greg Werner was the head coach for the Ohio men’s swimming and diving team from 1995 to 2007 and for the Ohio women’s swimming and diving team from 1995 to 2013.
