More than 2,000 Athens County residents are without power, according to the American Electric Power website.
AEP could not be reached at 11:30 p.m Monday night, so the cause of the power outage remains unsure. However, @OUScanner tweeted that a tree on Poston Road had fallen on a power line at 9:15 p.m.
By midnight, workers at the Athens Messenger, which prints The Post, reported their power had been lost, as well.
