Woman reportedly raped on Main Green on Tuesday

A woman reportedly was raped by a male Tuesday on Main Green; the man fled after she sprayed pepper spray at him.

A woman was reportedly raped on Main Green early Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the Ohio University Police Department.

The release stated that the woman noticed a group of males walking past her around 2 a.m. and then was approached by one. The man allegedly tried to kiss her and held her hands together while "digitally penetrating her."

The woman then sprayed the man with pepper spray, causing him and the rest of the group of males to flee, according to the release.

The woman reported the alleged rape to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital and OUPD was notified about it on Friday evening. Because the woman wished to remain anonymous, OUPD is unable to further investigate the case.

Anyone with information should contact OUPD at 740-593-1911.
