Sexual offense reported to the Athens County Sheriff's Office

A female filed a walk-in sexual offense report with the Athens County Sheriff's Office Sunday.

A female reported a sexual offense that had occurred two weeks ago to the Athens County Sheriff's Office on Sunday.

After going on a date to the Athena Grand movie theater, the male subject pulled over and attempted to grope the female, according to a news release issued by the sheriff's office Tuesday.

The female was able to get the male subject to stop, and proceeded to delete all contact information she had involving him. She explained to deputies that she had met the individual on a dating website, meetme.com, according to the press release.

The male used the name Paul Molly, or Molley, and told the female he was an Ohio University student involved in the U.S. National Guard or Army Reserves.

When the Ohio University Police Department was contacted, there were no records of an individual named Paul Molley or Molly as a past or present student.

The case remains active and under investigation with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.
