A member of OU Army ROTC shares his thoughts on how this year’s event went.
Football, excellent weather and a grill brought brothers and sisters in arms together at Bicentennial Park on Sept. 19, 2015. The annual event, Hero’s Day, is designed to celebrate the service of current and veteran military members. At the park, Ohio University Army ROTC set up shop and served free food to anyone who wished to attend the event. In a combined effort, the Bobcat Battalion and the Ohio Army National Guard worked to provide a fun atmosphere for friends and family. The Ohio Army National Guard works in close relations with OU Army ROTC and proudly serves the Athens community. National Guard Recruiter Staff Sergeant Nathan McKenzie said, “I am glad to be out here in the community supporting the college students and celebrating the service of our veterans.” The event proved to be a mission success with not only the Bobcats claiming a victory on the football field, but with serving the large Bobcat family with great food and great times.
