Ohio University Police receives seventh sex-related crime report this semester

The report alleged a rape occurred Saturday in Bromley Hall, when a female received unwanted sexual contact with a male she knew.

A female reported a sexual assault to the Ohio University Police Department early Saturday morning.

The incident was filed as a rape, according to the OUPD incident report.

According to the report, the alleged rape occurred at 3:33 a.m. in Bromley Hall. The report indicates alcohol may have been involved. The female reported to OUPD she had received unwanted sexual conduct from a male acquaintance.

The case is under investigation, according to the report.

The incident marks the seventh sex-related crime reported to OUPD since the start of the Fall Semester, and the third alleged rape. It’s the eighth sex-related crime reported to Athens-area law enforcement since classes started, as one sex-related crime was reported to the Athens Police Department on Aug. 30.

Additionally, The Athens NEWS wrote that a public OUPD police log showed a report of gross sexual imposition, reported to police Thursday afternoon. The Post has not yet been able to verify that report.

On Aug. 29, a female reported to OUPD a person had touched her in the groin area as she walked down East Union Street with a male whom she knew.

On Aug. 30 an APD incident report alleged an 18-year-old female had been sexually assaulted on the east side of Athens.

OUPD received a report of gross sexual imposition on Sept. 3, when a female student alleged that a male acquaintance had sexual contact with her.

A female reported a rape to OUPD Sept. 5. The report alleged the incident took place in a South Green residence hall, but does not specify the building.

A former OU basketball player was arrested Sept. 9 in relation to a report of gross sexual imposition from the day before, in which a woman alleged unwanted sexual conduct. Charges were dropped on Sept. 14.

On Sept. 14, OUPD received a report of a rape alleged to have occurred at 9:45 p.m. at O’Bleness House on South Green. The female reported unwanted sexual contact with a male acquaintance.

On Sept. 19, a student reported sexual imposition on campus early in the morning. The report did not describe whether the student who reported the incident was male or female. No other details were provided.
