According to a news release sent out by the Athens County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a residence on Monk Road for a suspicious person and possible shots fired.

When deputies arrived at the residence, the investigation revealed that Chris Simms, 47 of Nelsonville, Phillip Simms, 49 of Athens, and Cindy Mender, 52 of Nelsonville, went to the residence on Monk Road and attempted to steal the alleged marijuana plants growing on the property.
