Fight led to broken window at The Over Hang during Dads Weekend

Witnesses at the scene of the fight weren't sure whether dads were involved, and planned to carry on with their night.

On Court Street, a man reportedly crashed through the window of The Over Hang late Saturday night, interrupting the Dads Weekend revelries for some.

“He was down there, bleeding,” Austin Lamb, a junior studying sport management, said.

Several police cars and an ambulance responded to the incident. Dads and students outside the bar said the man fell through the window after a fight broke out inside the bar at about 11 p.m.

“He didn’t fall, he was punched,” Brian Wind said.

Brian and his son, Alex Wind, a junior studying finance and business pre-law, were near the scene when the fight broke out. Alex caught the incident on video. It didn’t seem that dads were involved, Brian said.

The Athens Police Department and the Ohio University Police Department didn't have information as of press time regarding the man's condition.

Eric Moss, owner of The Over Hang, said he didn't know what happened.

"We are still conducting an internal investigation into what happened," Moss said.

The incident dampened the mood a bit, Brian said, but other than that, they were enjoying their time together.

“It was a great night before that, and it’ll be a great night after,” Brian said.

Austin and his sister Emily Lamb, an undecided freshman, witnessed the incident with their dad, Roy Lamb, as they were taking Roy to The Over Hang, Austin said.

“I’m a member of Acacia, so at first I thought it was somebody starting a fight in front of our house,” Austin said.
