Kiser's BBQ announced on Facebook that they are closing their Court Street location.
Ohio University students headed Uptown to grab a bit of comfort food may need to seek a new soul food refuge.
Kiser's Barbecue on Court, 42 S. Court St., announced on Facebook Monday afternoon that they would be closing their uptown location immediately.
The post added that barbecue joint's East State Street location in the Athens Mall would remain open with an extended menu. The store will also be updating its catering options.

"We are NOT closing our E. State St location nor are we going out of/or selling the business. We are here to keep the BBQ wheels rolling!" the post read.
The closure came after an offer to exit the business's current lease, the post read. The building is currently owned by Sylvus II LLC and was purchased in 2009, according to the Athens County Auditor's website. The location previously hosted a Quiznos.
