Man transported to O'Bleness Hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Court Street

The subject was “awake and alert” when he left the scene, but his condition is unknown as of Sunday morning.

A male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on North Court Street on Friday night, according to an Athens Police Department report.

The man was transported to OhioHealth O’Bleness Memorial Hospital after APD officers initially responded and provided first aid.

The subject was “awake and alert” when he left the scene, but his condition is unknown as of Saturday morning.

Though some witnesses described the incident as a “hit and run,” the aforementioned vehicle pulled into a parking space farther up Court Street after the incident occurred, according to the report. The driver was waiting for officers to arrive.

The APD report was initiated but is not complete as of Saturday morning.
