Athens City Code Director John Paszke was fired Monday morning after working as director since 2008.
Athens City Code Director John Paszke was fired Monday morning, Deputy Service-Safety Director Ron Lucas said.
Lucas offered no further information on why Paszke was let go.
While there is currently no one filling in the position, Lucas said the city was "working on a plan ... so we're in a good place in the transition."
Lucas added Paszke's replacement would "probably include staff we already have."
Paszke's department oversees things such as rental inspections and is in charge of doling out citations for trash and litter.
Paszke served as code director since 2008 after being hired by former Athens Mayor Paul Wiehl.
