Police Blotter

Police Blotter: Elderly woman receives unwanted nude pictures

An OU student was charged with intoxication Thursday after knocking incessantly at the wrong door.

Most of grandma’s texts are pictures of the grandchildren, messages from loved ones and the occasional early bird special.

But an unfortunate elderly Athens County woman called the sheriff’s office Saturday and told deputies that she was receiving nude pictures from an unknown number.

The report does not state whether or not the case is still under investigation.

Wrong Door

As many students look forward to collapsing in their beds after a night of drinking, one student was just a little off-base.

A Lincoln Hall resident was the unfortunate butt of that joke last Thursday night when he returned to his residence hall intoxicated and began knocking on the wrong door, according to Ohio University Police Department reports.

The student was on the wrong floor, banging on the door directly beneath his own at about 3:30 a.m., according to reports. OUPD officers arrived on scene and charged the student with disorderly conduct by intoxication and released him to his roommate.

Drug Offenses

OUPD reported 11 incidents of marijuana-related crimes and 10 related to alcohol since Jan. 25. One OU student was charged with possession of acid.

Facebook Fight

Getting in a fight over the Internet is common but rarely does it escalate into a fist fight.

The Athens County Sheriff’s office received a call Saturday of a reported fight in progress, according to sheriff’s office reports.

When deputies arrived on the scene around 3 a.m., they determined the fight was about Internet usage in the residence, the reports stated.

The man who started the fight was intoxicated and was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Internet Spat

Some significant others can go a little overboard when looking at their partner's Facebook page, but most avoid going too far.

Sunday night, a couple contacted the sheriff’s office about a dispute they were having.

The husband explained to sheriff’s deputies that his wife had been drinking excessively, according to the report, and became angry about some girls he was friends with on Facebook.

The wife threatened to get a restraining order against him. Thinking that was unfair, the husband contacted the sheriff’s office, according to reports.

The couple denied any threats of violence and agreed to separate, according to the report.

Impersonation

The Athens Police Department took issue with one of their own Tuesday, or so it seemed.

APD arrested an intoxicated person for impersonating a police officer Tuesday night, according to APD reports.
