City council to host presentation on affordable housing, discuss street closures for Boogie on the Bricks

Athens City Council will see a presentation on affordable housing.

Athens City Council’s Monday night meeting will be full of street closures.

The transportation committee, headed by Councilwoman Michele Papai, D-3rd Ward, will be discussing street closures for a number of events, including the King Midget event and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Human Powered Vehicle Challenge.

Council will also discuss street closings for Boogie on the Bricks, an event held on Court Street that features art and live music.

The City and Safety Services Committee, headed by Councilman Kent Butler, D-1st ward, will be hosting a Community Housing Improvements Program presentation.

The program provides funding to local governments, like Athens, to improve affordable housing for low-income citizens.

The director of Athens Community Television will also be at the meeting to give a report and make an equipment request.
