The first weekend of the year saw numerous games take place across all of Ohio University and Athens County. The Post's photographers were there to capture the games as they happened.
Volleyball
The team lost three straight games over the weekend to No. 22 Western Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast and Villanova. The team is 0-3 for the first time since 2012.
Athens High School Football
Athens High School football defeated Warren Local 41-0 in a blowout at Athens High School. The Bulldogs dominated from start to finish.
Field Hockey
The field hockey team fell in overtime by a score of 3-2 against Indiana. Coach Macmillan will have to wait to set the school record for wins.
Women's Soccer
The soccer team fell in overtime 2-1 against High Point after surrendering a late tying goal. The team was unable to capitalize on the momentum of defeating Dayton last week.
