To avoid straying too far into the realm of bizarre animal Instagram accounts this week, I decided to tone it down with one of my more aesthetically pleasing follows as of late.
Hiro (@superhirocat), a white cat, is the star of this week’s review. He is very handsome and has more than 253,000 followers. A pet Instagram doesn’t have to be jarring or insane to be enjoyable, and Hiro is the perfect example of that.
Quality of Pictures
The pictures on this account seem to be taken with a nice camera, and are usually well composed. The colors are always soft — usually muted whites and creams that compliment Hiro’s white coat. Simply put,the posts are enjoyable to look at. They’re well lit and most include Hiro looking directly into the camera, a feat that any pet owner knows is next to impossible.
While most pictures are just of Hiro acting like a normal cat, some include him wearing clothes like a hooded sweatshirt or a bow tie. Strangely, many of the photo descriptions have vague, slightly motivational quotes that seem to have nothing to do with the picture they’re presented with. For example, one picture of Hiro gazing upwards is paired with “Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”
Rate of Posts
You’ll see Hiro about two to three times per week. It’s not a lot compared to some accounts, but it’s enough. He’s not usually doing anything bizarre anyway, so the subject matter is pretty tame.
Cuteness of Pet
As stated before, Hiro is a very handsome cat. His ears are small and seem to stay tucked up tight at the top of his head. Sometimes he looks grumpy, as if he were caught in the middle of a particularly bad morning. Other times you’ll see him staring off-camera, with the sunlight reflected off of his big eyes. He is a highly talented and versatile cat model.
Rating: ⅘
This account does the basics, but it does them well. Shots are well-lit and composed, and Hiro is a more than adequate model. There could be more posts, however, but few posts of substance are better than a flood of posts that just end up annoying you. I don’t think you’ll regret following Hiro, and I hope he was a nice change of pace from the direction Pet Instagram Review had been taking toward the absurd.
