'Stranger Things' is coming back for season two: Here's what we know, along with some speculation

SPOILER ALERT

Don’t fret — your new favorite TV show is coming back to Netflix next year.

The Duffer Brothers' Stranger Things, which became an instant cult classic only a few weeks after its release, is DEFINITELY coming back. According to a video posted on the Stranger Things Facebook page, the second season will take place in 1984, keeping the Stand By Me, Super 8-esque theme with the four nerdy kids we’ve learned to love.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Duffer Brothers spoke about what is coming next season, including new characters, a return to the Upside Down (the alternate universe where the Demogorgon hailed from) and even a break from the town of Hawkins.

Returning to the cast is Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Joyce (Winona Ryder), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and most of the rest of the cast.

The Duffer Brothers also said in the interview they aren’t sure if Eleven is returning, saying “We’ll leave that up in the air.” Bummer.

The video also included titles for episodes (as we learned from last season, they alluded to the theme for each episode). Some titles include "Madmax," "The Pollywog•" and "The Lost Brother."

The best part of the next season, however, is that it will be LONGER! Nine episodes of synthy tunes, sci-fi references and wild fight scenes.

As someone who has seen the whole first season twice, here are some predictions I have for next season:

'The Pollywog': Is this going to be the next monster? There is no such thing as a Pollywog in Dungeons and Dragons (the source of the name of the Demogorgon), but there is a Bullywug, a race of demon frogs that rule the swamp world. If that is not plausible, the next monster could be water-related. Where the Demogorgon was more of land predator, we could see some crazy frog-monster next season. But, who knows.

‘The Lost Brother': As me and one of my fellow Stranger Things fans were talking we thought, could Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) have a brother? As we have already seen, the result of Dr. Brenner’s (Matthew Modine) sensory-deprivation tank acid trip experiments have resulted in extremely talented children. If Eleven has a brother, he could have similar talents, or maybe something different (mind reading?). If that’s not the case, we could see Jonathan or a new character’s brother get lost in the Upside Down again. And that would be equally terrifying.

‘The Pumpkin Patch': Hopefully this episode is set during Halloween. 1980’s costumery and traditional horror would be an awesome episode.

Here are the titles, in order:

"Madmax," "The Boy Who Came Back to Life," "The Pumpkin Patch," "The Palace," "The Storm," "The Pollywog," "The Secret Cabin," "The Brain," "The Lost Brother"

As for late teasers from the last episode of season one, we can only guess what is going to happen. First off, we saw Will (Noah Schnapp) puke up that nasty Upside Down slug in the bathroom during Christmas dinner. Does that mean he will always be connected to the Upside Down? Could we see a return there with Will? We know the alternate dimension is toxic, so Will may not be able to survive in the “real” world.

Another thing we saw was Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) putting Eggo waffles and wings into a small wooden box in the forest. With Eggo waffles being Eleven’s favorite food, we could see her return. But, at least we know she is alive. Some theories: She could be keeping the Demogorgon at bay, or just in general hiding from the monstrosity that is the Department of Energy.

Also, can Nancy (Natalia Dyer) PLEASE end up with Jonathan (Charlie Heaton)? Yes, Steve (Joe Keery) ended up saving the day when the Demogorgon showed up in the Byers’ home, but he still sucks. Obviously Jonathan and Nancy share a bond unbreakable even by Steve, so why can’t they just be together?

Hopefully, all these pressing questions we have will be answered next season. Until then, stay strange.
