Pet Instagram Review: Boris and Oliver, two chameleons that live together

Chameleons are the lone wolves of the lizard world. According to chameleoninfo.com, they usually keep to themselves, and they are pretty shy. That’s why this week’s Pet Instagram sticks out — Boris and Oliver, (@boristhechameleon) are two chameleons that are friends. While the account is only named after one of them, both chameleons live in the same home and are featured on the page.

Contrary to popular belief, Chameleons do not change their color based on their surroundings. Instead they do so based on their emotions at the time. If a chameleon is sad or feels like mating with another chameleon, it can change its color to signify it, according to the San Diego Zoo.

Quality of pictures

This account has more videos than photos, so you’ll have lots of lizard action unfolding right before your eyes. In one particular video, Boris attempts to crawl over the face of one of the owners, treading carefully as if to try not to wake him up. What a thoughtful lizard.

Apart from videos of the two featured lizards, the account will sometimes repost photos from other lizard accounts. You can see a plethora of lizards if that’s your thing, and you don’t feel limited to just two. Some lizard memes are also sprinkled in there.

Rate of posts

The owner posts photos every other day or so, so you won’t be bombarded with posts. However, not all of the posts are original, so fresh lizard content is lacking at times. Regardless, the account is updated enough that you won’t forget about Boris and Oliver.

Cuteness of pet

Chameleons can move each of their eyes independent from one another. To some people this may be very strange but could be endearing to lizard fans. Some videos display this well, with Oliver moving his big eyes all over the place. Chameleons also have tiny, little hands that are split down the middle so they look like the claw from an arcade claw machine. They use their hands and tales to hang from branches, which is very impressive and cute at the same time.

Rating: ⅘

While the account does a good job of keeping you up-to-date with chameleon videos, it’s a little lacking in the photo department. Some high-quality photos would really tie the account together, as tons of videos can be overwhelming.
