TV Recap: Two blindsides during the second double eviction of ‘Big Brother 19’

Last week, Raven Walton and Matt Clines were the prey of the house. Hoping to split up the remaining showmances, Jason Dent and Alex Ow rallied enough votes to send Matt packing. “Jalex” thought their odds looked good, but, their partner in crime Paul Abrahamian had a different picture in mind.

Will someone pay the price for serving Matt his eviction notice? We’ll have to wait and see.

Sunday

HoH Competition

Before the HoH competition, Paul convinced everyone to throw the competition. Of course, they all listened to him and went forward without any questions. After everyone let go of their button, Paul let go of his leaving Josh Martinez and Christmas Abbott left. Josh threw the competition to Christmas so she could control the house for the week.

Nominations

Before the week started, Jason and Alex were the house’s two biggest targets. Under the impression that Kevin Schlehuber was the target, Ow offered herself to be the pawn. During the nomination ceremony, Christmas nominated Jason and Alex for eviction.

Wednesday

Stay on your toes

Following the nomination ceremony, Jason went around the house questioning everyone about their motives. Paul, of course, played dumb. Kevin stated either Jason or Alex was going home and Josh stayed quiet. When Paul said he had no information, Jason knew something was off because Paul has had a hand in every move thus far.

PoV and Ceremony

Kevin, Alex, Christmas, Jason, Paul and Raven were picked to play during the Power of Veto competition. It was a memory comp that boiled down to Paul and Alex. Before it started, Paul convinced the houseguests to throw the win to him. Everyone followed instructions except Alex. She eventually got the answer wrong, and Paul had won the Power of Veto.

Before the ceremony, Josh tried to talk with Paul about not using the veto. It’ll cover him if he uses it, but it’ll leave Josh and Christmas in the crossfire. In this moment, Martinez started to catch on to Paul’s gameplay.

At the PoV ceremony, Paul decided to use the veto on Alex. Christmas nominated Kevin in her place.

Thursday

Double Eviction

Julie Chen greeted the houseguests and shared the news of the double eviction. The houseguests went into the diary room to cast their votes and it came down to a tie. Being the HoH, Christmas had to break the tie and she chose to evict Jason. Jason, completely blindsided, stormed out of the house without speaking to anyone.

Inside the house, Paul and Josh engaged in a staged fight to throw Alex off and keep her eyes on Kevin and Raven as the hopeful targets. This strategy worked because during the HoH, Alex won and did exactly that. The Power of Veto happened and Josh pulled out the win. He chose not to use it and the house voted to evict Raven. During her exit interview with Chen, she said she thought she played a great game … yikes, again.

Next week someone will become the Head of Household, the Power of Veto could change the course of the game and two more cast members will be sent packing — leaving the final three.

Big Brother airs on Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. and Thursdays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
