More clues about the mysterious flash forward were revealed on ‘How to Get Away with Murder’

After last week's episode of How to Get Away with Murder, audiences were left wanting more action. However, they were let down again during this week’s episode that only contained a few eventful scenes. Here are the top 5 moments from episode 6 of How to Get Away with Murder’s fourth season.

1.  Annalise effectively defeated the DA’s office

Last week, the DA’s office was able to undermine Annalise (Viola Davis) which threw her off when they revealed that they had convinced some of her forty witnesses to not testify. Annalise was enraged, but she used it to fuel her actions this episode. Annalise knew she had to keep Claudia on the case. However, the DA yet again interfered and threatened to take her and her mother’s house. Claudia’s son and mother live in the house, so she was tempted to take her name off Annalise’s witness list.

With the help of Connor (Jack Falahee), Annalise created an efficient plea from Claudia’s son. He spoke to the press about how he didn’t want his house to be taken from him and his grandmother. Annalise then gave her statement, saying the system was rigged against the poor and they are continuously, and unfairly, targeted by the state. She outlined her plan to file a case against the governor and the state, which put pressure on the judge and DA. With the press now aware of the case, Annalise was able to stop the case and keep Claudia on as a witness.

Going forward, Annalise will need all of the help she can get with her monumental case. Thursday’s episode proved she can defeat the DA and still produce witnesses who are essential to her if she wants to win. Connor is also proving to be extremely helpful with creating ideas and plans to help her win. He also confessed to Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) that he is starting to warm up to Annalise again. The  Keating 4 is slowly but surely returning to Annalise.

2.  The therapist’s and Annalise unknowingly share a bond

Toward the beginning of the episode, Isaac (Jimmy Smits)  was shown talking to a presumed colleague of his. He stated that Bonnie (Liza Weil) told him Annalise lost a baby. The colleague suggested Isaac transfer Annalise to another therapist due to a conflict of interest. Isaac insisted he stay with her because she is finally opening up to him. Eventually, Annalise reflected on her past and how happy she was when she found out she was pregnant. She told Isaac it was the worst pain she has ever felt — she even tried to kill herself because of her intense pain.

At the end of the episode, it is revealed the presumed colleague of Isaac is actually his ex-wife. He is shown sobbing while watching a video of the two of them and their daughter after her graduation. It is inferred that he lost his daughter in some way, though the audience doesn’t know how. Moving forward, it will likely be a bond that strengthens the relationship between Isaac and Annalise and will lead to their connection in the flash-forward.

3.  Laurel’s father’s motive for killing Wes was revealed

In the season finale of last season, viewers were stunned when it was revealed that Laurel’s (Karla Souza) father murdered Wes (Alfred Enoch). In this episode, his motive was finally uncovered by the Keating 4. Laurel’s father met with Tegan (Amirah Vann) and later, Laurel, to tell her they were about to make a lot of money. Laurel realized her father thought Wes was going to tell the police everything, exposing the Keating 4 and ruining Laurel’s father’s huge profit.

The motive behind Wes’ murder seems somewhat weak, as surely Laurel’s father could have confronted Wes and scared him off. Nevertheless, Laure was enraged and continued to want to take her father down. Oliver and Michaela (Aja Naomi King) worked on getting access to Caplan’s security system, which will divulge incriminating information later on. Surely, this will lead to all of them being at Caplan’s office in the flash-forward crime.

4.  Asher learned Michaela’s true motives

Asher (Matt McGorry) has been suspicious of Michaela all season. After she lied to him last episode, he had to confront her. Michaela panicked and lied again, telling him she’s Laurel’s birthing partner. Asher took the information to Laurel and congratulated her. He even offered his support in a touching scene, but it was later revealed that it was all to plant a camera in her apartment. Asher used the camera to spy on Michaela and Laurel and recorded them discussing their plan to take down Laurel’s father.

Asher faced Michaela, demanding she tell him what’s going on. Michaela admitted that Laurel’s father killed Wes. Asher proved to be too upset, and continued to stalk out Michaela’s apartment. The entire scenario will play into the flash-forward and probably lead Asher to helping Michaela and subsequently being arrested in the crime.

5.  Annalise was present for the flash-forward murder

The season’s flash-forward crime has showcased lots of blood, a missing baby and the involvement of every main character. Yet, Annalise’s location and involvement wasn’t shown until tonight. The episode ended with Annalise cowering in a corner of a shower, covered in blood and crying. The scene wasn’t very shocking, as it’s always assumed that Annalise is involved in some way. It should still prove to be a twisty, complex crime that will leave viewers stunned.

With two episodes left before the show’s winter break, viewers should expect the drama to only escalate further. Perhaps next week will reveal the victim of the flash-forward crime or why Annalise is covered in blood. No matter what happens, viewers should definitely expect the unexpected.
