With the holiday season approaching and calendars filling up, be sure to clear a few spots for these films. Here are the four films to see in December.
I, Tonya
Starring Margot Robbie, this film is based off of real events surrounding the notorious Olympic ice skater Tonya Harding. Harding was known as the only American female to successfully do a triple axel, but she became notorious after being involved in a massive scandal with her attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan. This film is sure to have some dark humor snuck in along with the drama that happened all throughout Harding’s life. I, Tonya, is set to release Dec. 8.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
The latest addition to the Star Wars series will hit theaters Dec. 15. The film will follow Rey and her first steps to discovering the force and the jedi world. She will go on an adventure with Luke Skywalker, Leia, Finn and Poe that will uncover new things about the force as well as historical secrets. Rey will also have to choose what path she wants to walk down; follow the teachings of Luke or follow Kylo Ren to the dark side.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
This new adaptation of the 1995 Jumanji will come to the big screen on Dec. 20. The movie will follow the original story line, but instead of a board game coming to life, the characters get sucked into a video game. Despite their differences, the characters must work together to figure out how to survive in the jungle and eventually escape. With comedians like Kevin Hart and Jack Black starring in this film, it is sure to be filled with laughs.
The Greatest Showman
The Greatest Showman follows P.T. Barnum and how he came to create one of the most famous circuses of all time. After being laid off at his job, Barnum (Hugh Jackman) comes up with an idea to create a circus that showcased people that were different. With actors such as Zendaya and Zac Efron, Barnum created “The Greatest Show on Earth.” This musical will come to theaters Dec. 20.
