Fun News Friday: There’s a new Girl Scout Cookie; goats roam subway tracks in Brooklyn

As summer winds down and the school year begins, here's a look back on some of the fun things that happened during the month of August:

New Girl Scout Cookie

As if you didn’t need another reason to love Girl Scout cookies, a new flavor will be available in 2019: Caramel Chocolate Chip

That is the first new flavor since the s’mores cookie was introduced in 2016. The cookie is made with caramel, semi-sweet chocolate chips and a hint of sea salt. It is also gluten-free, making it the second-gluten free option along with Toffee-tastic.

Caramel Chocolate Chip will be available to buy at the start of Girl Scout cookie-selling season in January in select areas across the country.

Sister throws perfect strike

Sister Mary Jo Sobieck showed off her baseball skills when she threw the first pitch at the Chicago White Sox game on Aug. 18.

After walking up to the mound, she impressively bounced the ball off the inside of her elbow and threw a perfect strike.

Take a look at a future Major League Baseball All-Star:

Baaaaad goats roam subway tracks

On Aug. 20, two goats were loose on the subway tracks in Brooklyn, New York.

New York City Transit tweeted that it believed that was the first time seeing some “baaaaad” goats roaming along the N-line tracks. The goats were safe and not affecting any of the service.

Transit was not sure where the goats came from, but they were safely removed from the tracks and taken to farm sanctuary in upstate New York. The goats will be named Billy and Willy.

Waffle House birthday party

Lawson Cooper’s birthday party had a not-so-average theme for a three-year-old. His family chose to have it at his favorite place: Waffle House

His mom said it was an “obvious choice” because Lawson has loved eating at Waffle House since he could eat solid food.

The Cooper family threw the party in Buford, Georgia, with 16 of their relatives. Lawson received a personalized apron, birthday name tag and Waffle House pins. His family even got him a Waffle House cake.
