Coca-Cola is considering cannabis-infused drinks; OUPD held a self-defense lecture

Today is Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

Atlanta-based company Coca-Cola is highly considering selling cannabis-infused drinks. The company is in talks with Canadian marijuana producer Aurora Cannabis and the “wellness beverages” would contain non-psychoactive cannabidiol, or CBD.

“The space is evolving quickly,” Coca-Cola spokesperson Kent Landers said in a statement to Bloomberg News. “No decisions have been made at this time.”

Last year, Constellation Brands, brewers of Corona beers, invested nearly $4 billion in Canadian pot producer Canopy Growth, NPR reported. That investment is set to bring the company’s overall value to $10 billion. The possible move for Coca-Cola would mark it as the first nonalcoholic drink-producing company to release cannabis-infused drinks.
