It’s National Beer Lover's Day; Athens’ dogs are allowed on restaurant patios

Today is Friday, Sept. 7, 2018. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning and welcome back,

Happy National Beer Lover’s Day!

Beer is one of the oldest drinks that humans have made. It was created in modern day Iran about 7,000 years ago. It was a source of nutrition and energy, and as people traveled, the idea of beer went with them. Barley was used to brew beers — and is still used today — but after the progression of brewing in Germany, hops are a more common ingredient.

Celebrate the day by grabbing a favorite brew Uptown or enjoy one in the comfort of your own home. Maybe even use the day to try something new like a pale ale or something fruitier.
