Ariana Grande’s new video for ‘thank u, next’ is inspired by movies with strong female characters

Ariana Grande dropped a hot new video for her single “thank u, next” on Friday at 3 p.m. The video was released on YouTube, and it took inspiration from a few iconic movies with strong female leads.

Throughout the video, she recreates scenes from Mean Girls, Bring It On, 13 Going on 30 and Legally Blonde. She puts her own spin on the most iconic scenes from these movies that we all know and love. If she chose these because of the female leads we may never know, but that seems to be the pattern.

The video features many celebrities such as Jonathan Bennett, who makes a reappearance as his part of Aaron Samuels, and Jennifer Coolidge as Paulette Bonafonté. It also features Kris Jenner, who plays the part of the mom from Mean Girls. Some other celebs that made an appearance include Troye Sivan, Colleen Ballinger, Gabi DeMartino and Stefanie Drummond, who was also in the original Mean Girls

Maybe the best cameos are some of her Victorious co-stars such as Elizabeth Gillies, Matt Bennett and Daniella Monet.

These adaptations made this video fun to watch from beginning to end and perfectly fit the song as well as Grande’s personality.

“thank u, next” topped the charts shortly after it was released and continues to be one of the top hits. The song was released when no one was expecting it, and that is part of the appeal. Grande speaks from her heart in the song and made a video to match that. On her social media platforms, Grande has dropped hints about her new video by posting pictures of her adorned in gear that resembled some of our favorite movies.

Here is how some fans and viewers reacted on Twitter:
