TV Review: Janet kicks some demon butt in Thursday’s episode of ‘The Good Place’

Things are heading south on this week’s installment of The Good Place.

Last week’s episode ended with Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson) and a gang of demons creating a portal to earth and coming to send the core four back to the bad place.

When Michael (Ted Danson) and Janet (D’Arcy Carden) pay a visit to a man designing his life to be sent to the good place, the core four hang out in a bar where they are ambushed by Shawn and his demons. However, none of them remember who Shawn is, except for Eleanor (Kristen Bell) who had seen the afterlife flashbacks in last week’s episode.

“I’m Shawn,” Shawn said to the core four. “You are very scared of me.”

Michael and Janet made it back to the bar before Shawn could send the group through the portal, and while the demons are about to send them away, Janet takes over and initiates one of the most epic battles in The Good Place history.

“Screw this let’s fight,” Janet said while she karate chopped a demon in the throat.

Though the fight was intense and the core four were almost captured and sent to the bad place, the good news was Eleanor finally admitted what she knew about her romance with Chidi (William Jackson Harper), and even said that she wanted to be with him like they were in the afterlife.

When all of the demons were sent back to the bad place and Cheleanor shippers were just beginning to think that things could work out, another giant group of demons showed up, prompting Janet to send the core four into her void and ending the episode on a cliffhanger––a stunt that The Good Place is known for.

By far the most exciting part of this episode was Janet’s epic battle against the demons. It was an intense, hot and brave side of Janet that we haven’t seen much of in the course of the show. Janet seriously kicked some demon butt.
